Over the next 3 years we will be working together to develop;
• An exciting and creative curriculum
• Even higher standards in literacy, numeracy and science
• Links with our local community, including involving parents far more in childrens' learning
• The personal and social skills of our children, so that they become citizens to be proud of!

Feedback from Headteacher's Forum
Dear Parents
Back in October I held a discussion meeting for all parents
regarding their views of what we do well as a school and which areas we
could improve in. It was a fascinating session with a broad range of
views expressed.
I have summarised below the points which were made by the majority
of parents, although some individual views may not be reflected here, I
have read all comments and as a staff we will look at all suggestions
over time.
Main strengths
• strong staff
• good range of extended school activities available
• children feel safe and happy
• children learn well from the cultural and social mix within the school
Areas to improve
• some parents feel that the curriculum is "too rigid and narrow" and that it could be developed in a more creative way
• more emphasis on sport
• the teaching of a modern foreign language
• more involvement of community arts projects in school
• behaviour at lunchtimes could be improved
• that parents should have more regular feedback about their child's progress.
A recent questionnaire sent to new parents in Nursery and Reception
reflects similar views about a strong and caring Foundation Stage staff
who have enabled the children to settle quickly, make friends and enjoy
learning. Like parents at the Headteacher's Forum, a number of parents
felt that they would like to be better informed about how their
children are doing and what in particular they are learning about.
Since the Headteacher's Forum the staff and Governors have agreed
the following four areas which the school will focus on over the next
3-4 years
• Develop creativity across the curriculum and the role of ICT in its development.
• Raise attainment across the curriculum.
• Increase the involvement of parents and other members of the community in childrens' learning
• Enhance the teaching of PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) and citizenship so that children can make positive choices about their behaviour and their responsibilities.
Additionally, the school is currently planning to introduce Modern Foreign Language teaching over the next couple of years.
Over the next month the staff are producing detailed plans as to
how/when new initiatives will take place. I would welcome parent
comments on our new School Improvement Plan when it is published in
January.
Finally, I was very struck by the positive will of parents to
contribute to Bonneville's success. We will still need parents to fund
raise, to organise community events but we also need parents to offer
us other skills. In return you will get the satisfaction that you are
involved in your child's school in some small way. Very shortly we will
contact all parents asking for expressions of interest in a wide range
of school activities to become involved in.
Many, many thanks for your support and interest.
Best wishes
Ms J Hillman
